Retail solutions provider 4POS, moves into Liverpool Science Park, to offer their bespoke self service hardware solutions and develop the next generation of AI till systems.
Background
Following the merger of Swiss company 4POS AG and Dutch company Pan Oston in 2022, 4POS became a sustainable European market leader, providing retailers and hospitality customers with hardware systems and services which are either bespoke and unique in design, or from their stylish portfolio of modern, exciting and ergonomic designs.
The following year, Pan Oston won a RedDot Award – one of the most sought-after design awards in the world – recognising exceptional product design and innovation, responding to modern retail environment demands. Retailers do not want their checkouts to look identical to their neighbours.
Developing the next generation of AI
Now setting their sights on expanding within the UK, 4POS’s strategy is to further enhance the AI element of their point of sale (POS) tills, to support customers with loss protection. Through the use of innovative cameras and computer vision, the technology is enabling more efficient and cost-saving workflows, turning 4POS’s creative vision into functional, future-proof reality.
Craig Bevan and Michael Durkan are the core team who have been tasked with taking on this challenge, and their first step on this journey was to set-up a base in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter innovation district.
Why Liverpool?
The team considered a number of major cities when looking for a new UK base, including Birmingham and London, and found that Liverpool provided the best value workspace and hotel accommodation, as well as having excellent connectivity with the rest of the UK.
4POS subsequently moved into their new private office within Sciontec owned Liverpool Science Park on 15th September, and have already started seeing the benefits.
Craig Bevan, UK&I Country Manager at 4POS, said:
“Strategically, being in Liverpool’s innovation district is ideal for us, as it offers opportunities to access the University talent pools, and co-locate with manufacturing, AI and innovation focused organisations to help spawn new ideas. It really feels like a good fit.”
Michael Durkan, Technical Director – POS at 4POS, added:
“The business community within Liverpool Science Park is so friendly, and as well as our impressive new workspace, we have access to onsite parking and meeting rooms – it was a no-brainer to locate here.”
The future
Looking ahead, 4POS has big aspirations to achieve 10% year on year growth. This is expected to be realised through product development and collaborative partnerships, to enhance the next generation of AI and implement new use cases of existing and new hardware technology.
4POS are also hoping to attract and work with at least two, new local customers, building on their existing national portfolio, and positioning Liverpool as a key player in innovative POS provision.
