CENTRAL TECH innovation hub approaches full capacity

Back

Liverpool’s CENTRAL TECH building continues to attract spin outs, start ups and SMEs, after welcoming 13 new businesses.

The innovation hub in the city’s Knowledge Quarter (KQ Liverpool) innovation district opened its doors just six months ago and has proven to be a popular destination for SMEs across a range of science and technology-led sectors, especially companies working with Artificial Intelligence.

The latest arrivals at the Sciontec-owned development on Russell Street occupy a variety of workspace sizes, ranging from co-working spaces to 20-person private office suites.

Gen10, a SaaS technology firm focussed on supply chain and risk management for the global commodity trading community, has taken a workspace for 20 people to support its expanding engineering and AI team. The move will deepen Gen10’s ties with Liverpool’s universities within KQ Liverpool, alongside supporting high-value local job creation in advanced digital and data technologies.

Guilford Street Laboratories, a University College London spin-out, affiliated with award-winning medical software company MyCardium, has taken a 6-person office, while a leading influencer and marketing company is taking a four-person space in the building.

TalentPortAi, an award-winning recruiter that has developed the world’s first AI–ML powered employee-sharing ecosystem, and Keido Labs, a research‑driven AI lab combining psychology and AI to build an empathy layer for conversational AI, have both arrived at the co-working space at CENTRAL TECH.

They are joined by tech branding and design consultancy Studio Mundo, alongside office design and fit-out specialist Design Metric.

Six professional advisory firms connected to KQ Liverpool’s KQ CLICK business support programme have also taken co-working space within the building.

Leanne Katsande, head of commercial at Sciontec, said:

“The continued success of CENTRAL TECH demonstrates the ongoing demand among SME businesses for high quality space in the KQ Liverpool innovation district.

“The building offers a wide spectrum of space options that are ideal for start-ups, scale-ups and more established businesses, such as Concerto which occupies 2,635 Sq Ft on the top floor, to arrive here, grow here and stay here for the long-term.

“We are delighted with the progress CENTRAL TECH has made to date, exceeding 75% occupancy within six months of opening, and we are on course to see our growing community reach its full potential in 2026.”

Barbara Spicer CBE, chair of Sciontec, added:

“Since taking up my new role as Chair, I have had the pleasure of working from CENTRAL TECH and talking to many of our customers who share this amazing space. Those businesses all have one thing in common – they are wonderful innovators.

“What feels so special for me is the way that the building is designed and used, which means that our City’s innovators are able to collaborate, foster and grow their businesses with ease.

“Anyone looking to give their business the best start to 2026 is also invited to join us!”
