Our new starter, Aaron Kannathasan, has written a blog about his new role, experiences to date and what he enjoys doing outside of work.
Hi there, my name’s Aaron and I’ve recently joined the Sciontec team as the Sciontec AI Host, and have completed three weeks at this wonderful company!
As Sciontec AI Host, I will be taking care of our Sciontec AI customers who are based in the first floor of The Spine, at Paddington Village. With both of my degrees being in Marketing, I will also be supporting the Marketing and Comms team wherever I can to support wider business goals.
I am looking forward to meeting more of the Sciontec and KQ Liverpool innovation district community in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, you can find out more about me below:
My career journey to date
I completed my Bachelors degree in Marketing at the University of Liverpool in 2022 and I submitted my dissertation three weeks ago for my Master’s programme in Advanced Marketing, which I have now completed too.
During my time in education, as a hobby and part-time job, I was a graphic designer for popular YouTube stars who now have followings of 10 million +. I was also approached by Newport County AFC (League 2 Football Club), whilst I was doing my GCSEs and A Levels, to help out with graphic design and I spent three years at the club helping out with graphics.
During my time at university, I was a Student Ambassador and also an Interpreter, helping interpret from English to Tamil and vice versa. This role was mainly based in the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, which is just a few steps away from The Spine where I am now based!
Why Sciontec?
Whilst I was completing my Masters degree, I started to think about securing a job post-degree, and I wanted to stay in the city for family reasons. I came across the LCR Grad Scheme and was successful in joining their Talent Pool cohort, and they thought I was a perfect fit for this advertised role at Sciontec.
I did my research and met with George Barclay, Head of Property, FM and Operations at Sciontec twice, and I loved everything I was told and saw about the company, the role, the team, the place of work and the whole innovation centre culture.
How’s it going so far?
It has been an amazing start so far, the team have welcomed me so well and it feels like I’ve been here for so long! The team has a real family feel and I’ve loved the role too, being able to support the Sciontec AI community and also getting involved with other parts of the business.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m a huge Liverpool FC fan and love watching and playing football (did I mention that a certain sporting VIP came into The Spine on my first day of working here?!).
I’m also a musician and play both the drums and piano at my local church.
