RTC North marked a major milestone last week as it officially opened the doors to its new Liverpool base in The Spine, located at the heart of the city’s Knowledge Quarter.
With over two decades of activity in the Liverpool City Region — first delivering support in Knowsley 22 years ago — the move signifies a renewed commitment to the city and its thriving business ecosystem.
The new space, located within one of the UK’s most innovative and sustainable buildings, will be home to Angela Smith, Jamie Sheridan, Alex Pilkington and Paul Rainford — a team deeply embedded within the region. Their presence ensures RTC North remains accessible, visible, and well-positioned to support local innovation and growth.
The evening featured warm welcomes and reflections from some of the region’s most influential voices. Colin Sinclair, Chief Executive of Sciontec (who manage Sciontec AI in The Spine), and John Whaling from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, both offered words of support and celebration as the organisation joined the community at one of Liverpool’s most iconic business locations.
RTC North’s Chief Executive, Jamie Ollivere, also addressed guests, sharing the organisation’s long-standing connection to the area:
“We’ve been operating in this region for 22 years, starting out in Knowsley. To see how our presence and achievements have grown alongside those of the businesses we support is fantastic. This new space is a natural next step in that journey.”
Alex Pilkington introduced the Liverpool team, highlighting the strategic value of a permanent base in the city:
“It’s so important for us to be here, to continue the great work we’re doing with universities, local stakeholders, and ambitious businesses. This office means we can stay even more closely connected to the region and the people we support.”
Guests from organisations such as the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority joined in the celebrations, alongside many others that RTC has partnered with over the years. Following the speeches, the evening flowed into relaxed conversations over drinks and canapés, giving attendees the opportunity to connect and reflect on shared successes.
The move to Liverpool represents a new phase for RTC North. The organisation recently delivered a successful programme in partnership with Growth Platform and the Combined Authority — work that received glowing feedback from the businesses involved. With this strong foundation in place, the team is already exploring the next phase of its journey in the Liverpool City Region.
While The Spine has long been a beacon for innovation, RTC North’s new base within the building brings fresh energy and deeper collaboration with the city’s thriving business community — marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the organisation.
“RTC North has always been about working hand-in-hand with the communities we support,” said Jamie. “This new home in Liverpool means we can do even more of the work that we love, closer to our partners and to the businesses that we’re here to help grow.”
RTC North is proud to now call Liverpool home and looks forward to the opportunities and growth that lie ahead.
Colin Sinclair, CEO of Sciontec Developments Limited and Knowledge Quarter Liverpool, said:
“We are delighted that RTC North has chosen Sciontec AI for their first Liverpool city centre office, and they are a fantastic addition to the thriving business community we’ve grown at The Spine over the past three years.
“This move will enable RTC North to better leverage their expertise across the Knowledge Quarter Liverpool innovation district and beyond, supporting small business growth and delivering significant economic impact across a wider range of sectors.”
