Sciontec response to the 2025 Budget

Back

Sciontec CEO, Colin Sinclair, reacts to yesterday’s Budget, outlining the impact for local business owners within the Liverpool City Region.

In response to the 2025 Budget, delivered by Rachel Reeves on 26 November, our CEO has shared his thoughts on the impact for entrepreneurs and business leaders within the city region, as well as what he hopes to see announced in the future.

Colin Sinclair commented:

“It was welcome news to hear the government commit to targeted investment in innovation, prioritising sectors such as AI and engineering, in which Liverpool City Region has world leading strengths.

“As a finalist for the European Capital of Innovation 2026, we know first hand the importance of innovation as a driver for inclusive growth.

“Innovators and pioneers need to see a consistent, long-term industrial growth plan and we would like to see the government spell out that strategy even more clearly through its future policy announcements.

“There were also some specific devolved funding measures in the budget that will benefit the Liverpool City Region economy. We would encourage even greater devolution going forward.

“After a Budget of few shocks, we must hope that business owners now feel confident enough to press on with their expansion and investment plans without fear of further global economic turbulence, and lead us into a period of much-needed economic growth.”
