LCR Tech Climbers thrive at CENTRAL TECH

Leading tech firms move into CENTRAL TECH to commercialise their products and make valuable new connections.

Just three months after LCR Tech Climbers Ecosystem Partner, Sciontec Developments Limited (Sciontec), attended the highly anticipated 2026 List Reveal, they have welcomed six of these innovative, winning businesses into their CENTRAL TECH innovation centre.

Organisations included in both the ‘Official’ and ‘Ones to Watch’ lists are now working within the Russell Street building, benefitting from the unique workspace and networking opportunities the city centre site offers.

TOMSTECH

UK deep-tech company Tomstech is developing next-generation materials and energy systems, including Tomtanium – a 3D-printable radiation shielding material, which has multiple use cases across the medical, nuclear and advanced manufacturing sectors. Looking ahead, Tomstech now plans to focus on commercialising Tomtanium through strategic partnerships and licensing opportunities, while continuing to expand research and development into new shielding applications.

HAPTIV8

Smart insole creator, Haptiv8 Ltd, is developing innovative technology which enhances gait through real-time feedback and sensory rewards. In addition to being a 2026 LCR Tech Climber, they recently received a NIHR i4i FAST Grant and VC funding, enabling their dedicated team of clinicians, engineers, and healthcare innovators to accelerate improved outcomes for children with toe-walking. Haptiv8 now hopes to achieve medical regulatory approval and commercialise their first product by the end of the year.

Nicki Allen, CEO and Founder of Haptiv8 Ltd, said:

“The most valuable thing for Haptiv8 about working within CENTRAL TECH is the business network. We already work very closely with another customer in the building, LYVA Labs (being one of their portfolio companies), and hope to raise further investment to grow our team and develop our in-house manufacturing capabilities going forwards. We have also made good use of the office and event spaces within CENTRAL TECH for our Board meetings, onboarding sessions and photoshoot locations.”

BEAT MODULES

Beat Modules is an EdTech and public health startup that delivers gamified, statutory-aligned PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) education for secondary schools. Earlier this year, they won the Wellbeing category of the ‘Isle of Man Innovation Challenge’, as well as running 15 school pilots (reaching 700+ students), completing the Baltic Ventures Launchpad, and talking with Isle of Man public health teams about a nationwide rollout of their services. By March 2027, Beat Modules hopes to raise further investment, run full-scale pilots and expand into a permanent office at CENTRAL TECH.

We’ve already progressed from working out of university rooms and libraries to having a proper coworking space at CENTRAL TECH, which makes us feel like a credible company. The people we’ve met here are also very valuable to our business, as founders that I’d only previously seen on LinkedIn are now friends and colleagues, helping us grow into the Liverpool ecosystem (all the staff are really lovely as well!).”

SENSIFIED SPACES

Sensified Spaces is a sensory reviews platform, designed to help neurodivergent people navigate public places with confidence. Through Citizen First LCR, they have recently welcomed several new major pilot partners, including Liverpool ONE, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and their first national healthcare partnership working across five clinics. Looking ahead, Sensified Spaces are preparing for the public launch of their app, and hope to see further venues come onboard, to make real, impactful changes as a result of working together.

APOELLO

University of Liverpool spinout, Apoello, is a deep tech company focused on transforming molecular discovery through digitisation and automation. In addition to being named as an LCR Tech Climber, the organisation’s greatest achievement to date was securing £470k in seed funding to launch its DiaDEM platform, allowing them to transform materials discovery from costly physical trial-and-error into a rapid digital process. Future plans focus on scaling technical capabilities and expanding its work with early industry partners in the organic electronics sector.
