Representatives from both charities joined us via Zoom to praise everyone who took part in the physical challenge and to thank the individual supporters and corporate sponsors who made generous donations to the cause.

Joanne Dobbie, Head of Fundraising at the Huntington’s Disease Association, said:

“The difference your donations will make will be immense for people affected by Huntington’s Disease, who are already some of the most isolated people within our communities. Thank you everybody, whatever you did – cycled, walked, ran – it is really appreciated.”

The money raised throughout the 50 day challenge will not only help to support activities that have been adversely affected by Covid-19 to continue, but will enable exciting, new initiatives to come to fruition, which will benefit local people’s lives for years to come.

Danielle Carney, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, added:

“In the midst of the pandemic, we opened Liverpool’s first cancer hospital in 2020, and these funds will ensure that our new terraces will provide patient friendly outdoor space and be a safe, relaxing area for patients, family and friends to use.”

The LSP Team would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who backed our campaign and enabled us to donate such valuable funds to these two amazing KQ Liverpool based charities.

Challenge background

Back in November 2020, the LSP team set out support the wider Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool) community and joined forces with colleagues from Sensor City, Sciontec Liverpool, KQ Liverpool and Bruntwood SciTech to undertake the significant physical challenge of completing a distance of 500 miles within 50 days.

Having later decided to double our goal to 1,000 miles, our cumulative efforts resulted in us undertaking over 1,600km, the equivalent of travelling from LSP to John O’Groats and back.
