When Karnataka came to KQ Liverpool: A Day of Collaboration and Innovation
We were honoured recently to welcome a delegation of Indian tech businesses, led by our colleagues at the Department for Business and Trade and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. The 65 delegates were from Bangalore, in the southern state of Karnataka, and the event was a great opportunity to share insights and showcase Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool) and its spin-out development company Sciontec.
In tandem with our customers
We were joined by some of our esteemed customers who are based at either Sciontec AI (all-inclusive) at The Spine or Liverpool Science Park (LSP), within our KQ Liverpool ecosystem. Representatives from Zemplar Bank, LYVA Labs, and MTC all shared their experiences and the unique value they bring to our world-leading innovation district. It was inspiring to hear about the positive impact our spaces have had on these companies and their ability to deliver future plans.
Showcasing success stories
Colin Webb, Director of Operations at Zemplar Bank, highlighted his satisfaction with the serviced, flexible, all-inclusive office deal they secured with Sciontec and Liverpool City Council. He emphasised how beneficial it was to take the office on a serviced basis, allowing them to avoid the usual capital expenditure associated with acquiring 11,000 sq ft of office space.
Lorna Green, CEO of LYVA Labs, spoke highly of the ease of securing space with Sciontec at The Spine. She shared how Sciontec’s support enabled LYVA Labs to expand within one of the world’s healthiest buildings, scaling up from 3 to 18 employees in just two years and having the grow-on space to make this possible.
Mark Sutherberry, Senior Business Development Manager at Manufacturing Technology Centre Liverpool, mentioned the success they’ve experienced while being based at Liverpool Science Park. He highlighted their state-of-the-art facility on the ground floor of iC1, which attracts public curiosity and daily visits to the Science Park.
Sharing our journey
Sciontec’s Head of Commercial, Leanne Katsande, recounted the KQ Liverpool and Sciontec story, covering where it all started, our current progress, and future plans. The delegation was particularly impressed with our support services, especially KQ Base, a soft-landing programme designed to de-risk inward investment for companies looking to expand their presence in the UK for the first time—and the competitive prices of working at one of Sciontec’s workspaces.
An Impactful Visit
The Bangalore delegation, having toured the UK from London to the North East, told us that the combined package of KQ Liverpool’s soft-landing programme and the variety of workspace options available was the best package they had seen during their trip.
This was obviously very welcome feedback and it reaffirmed our purpose to foster an environment that supports innovation and growth. I ended the day with 15 business cards and 20 new LinkedIn connections, so it was a great day for our professional network too!
We look forward to building on these connections and continuing to provide world-class spaces and support for companies looking to thrive in Liverpool’s vibrant tech ecosystem.
